3D Chocolate Molds: Open vs. Closed Bottom

In this 2 part video series we look at the differences between open and closed bottom 3D molds. Most of our 3D molds come with the option to order them with either a closed or open bottom. A lot of people ask us what the difference is, and it mainly has to do with your preferred production method, as well as the type of chocolate piece you want to end up with – hollow or solid.

Part 1: Closed Bottom 3D Chocolate Molds

When these molds are put together, they form a completely closed unit, with no openings.

Part 2: Open Bottom 3D Chocolate Molds

When these molds are put together they still have an opening at one end.
